Order Terms & Conditions

Information about our cakes:

  • Our house designed cakes are just that, cakes that we have designed to sell here at the bakery, or through this website. All of our cakes are handmade, therefore it is possible they may show slight variations from the website images.  If there is a decorating detail that you see as extremely important, please bring that to our attention so that we can meet your hopes with our focus.
  • Our cakes are created through a thoughtful and methodical process of testing, tweaking, and adjusting. We are looking for flavors and textures that we find cohesive and make us proud, with the ultimate goal to make a cake that you will fully enjoy. However, tastebuds are subjective. If a cake does not meet your expectations, please bring it back to us and allow us to consider what might have gone wrong. If it does not meet our standards for freshness or flavor quality, we will gladly give you a store credit. If we find that the cake is in keeping with our expectations, no credit or refund will be issued.
  • We make many additional cake flavors and larger sizes than you will see on this website, as well as custom cakes, but they require a telephone or in-person conversation, as there are many details that we will need to know. Please feel free to call us at 916-985-2665. Keep in mind that large size cakes or special orders will take more lead time…please plan accordingly (5-7 days…)
  • When you come in to pick up your cake, you will be given specific instructions on the care of your cake. Most cakes are best eaten at room temperature….the flavors open up and the textures soften. Cakes can take 2-5 hours to come to room temp, depending on the size and flavor of your cake, please plan your pick up time accordingly. If you are unsure, please call us to ask about a particular cake.
  • All online orders are to be picked up in-person. Cakes cannot be shipped, nor do we offer delivery through the website.  If you are looking to have a cake delivered, please reach out to the shop before you order to see if that is an available option.  If it is possible, expect an applicable delivery fee based on mileage, date, and time of day.

Changes & Cancellation

  • When you place your order and provide your credit card, the charge will go through upon receipt of the order.
  • All changes or cancellations must be made at least 48 hours prior to the pick-up date.
  • All changes and/or cancellations must be made over the phone or in-person.
  • Changes or cancellations are not possible through this website, and no credit or return will occur for any attempt via the website.
  • Please call us at 916-985-2665 to speak with a person here at Karen’s Bakery Cafe to cancel or change any order.
